ManagementStudio supports the configuration where surveys can be accessed from within the local network, or from an external network (the internet). This requires some additional configuration:
- A new IIS server with a public facing IP address
- ManagementStudio to be installed on the new IIS server, configured to only respond to survey requests
- Network connectivity between the new IIS server and the ManagementStudio SQL database (typically by opening port 1433 on the firewall)
- A new public DNS entry to resolve the survey URL to the new IIS server public IP address
