Scenario A: Scheduling a Windows 10 to Windows 11 Migration for London Office

As a project administrator, you are responsible for migrating 150 users in the London office from Windows 10 to Windows 11. The migration must be completed over a 3-week period, limited to Monday through Friday. The deployment rooms are available for two daily sessions:

• 5 migrations from 09:00 to 11:00
• 5 migrations from 14:00 to 16:00

Follow the steps below to set up and configure the deployment unit in ManagementStudio.

Create a Deployment Unit

• Navigate to Deployment Units (1) → All Deployment Units (2) → New (3).

• In the Target Module dropdown, select User Migrations (1).
• Enter a deployment unit name (e.g., London Office) and specify the location (2).
• Click New (3) to create the deployment unit.

The new deployment unit will now be visible in the grid.

Configure the Deployment Unit

• Double-click the newly created deployment unit in the grid to open the details panel.
• Set the Start Date and End Date for the 3-week migration window (1). For example, set the start at 09:00 on 26/01/2026 and the end at 17:00 on 13/02/2026.
• Click Save Deployment Unit (2).

Schedule Configuration

By default, a deployment unit inherits session availability from the global schedule. To allocate sessions according to your specific requirements, override the global schedule:

• Click the Schedule Config tab (1).
• Toggle from Global to Local slots (2):
  • Click Toggle.
  • In the confirmation dialog, tick the checkbox for Yes, I’m sure (3).
  • Click Switch (4) to apply.

• Add session times to match resource constraints:
  • Click Click here to add new item (1).
  • Define Start Time and End Time for each session (2):
    • 09:00 – 11:00 with 5 migration slots
    • 14:00 – 16:00 with 5 migration slots
  • Specify the days as Monday to Friday.
  • Click Save Changes (3) to commit.

At the bottom of the screen, you will see a summary of configured sessions and available slots for this deployment unit.
