Enabling Application Usage Collection in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager

If Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager is not collecting application usage data, ensure the following client policy settings are enabled.
Accessing Client Settings
- In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to
Administration(#1) →Client Settings(#2). - Right-click the relevant client settings policy (#3) and select
Properties(#4).

Enable Hardware Inventory
- In the
Default Settingsdialog, selectHardware Inventoryfrom the left panel. - Set
Enable hardware inventory on clientstoYes. - Click
Set Classes....

- In the
Hardware Inventory Classeswindow, ensure theRecently Used Applicationsclass is selected, and all related options are enabled. - Click
OKto close the window.

Enable Software Inventory
- In the
Default Settingsdialog, selectSoftware Inventoryfrom the left panel. - Set
Enable software inventory on clientstoYes.

Enable Software Metering
In the
Default Settingsdialog, selectSoftware Meteringfrom the left panel.Set
Enable software metering on clientstoYes.Click
OKto apply changes and close theDefault Settingsdialog.

Policy Application
Client devices will receive these updated settings the next time they download the client policy.
