Enabling Application Usage Collection in Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager

If Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager is not collecting application usage data, ensure the following client policy settings are enabled.



Accessing Client Settings

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to Administration (#1) → Client Settings (#2).
  2. Right-click the relevant client settings policy (#3) and select Properties (#4).



Enable Hardware Inventory

  1. In the Default Settings dialog, select Hardware Inventory from the left panel.
  2. Set Enable hardware inventory on clients to Yes.
  3. Click Set Classes....

  1. In the Hardware Inventory Classes window, ensure the Recently Used Applications class is selected, and all related options are enabled.
  2. Click OK to close the window.



Enable Software Inventory

  1. In the Default Settings dialog, select Software Inventory from the left panel.
  2. Set Enable software inventory on clients to Yes.



Enable Software Metering

  1. In the Default Settings dialog, select Software Metering from the left panel.

  2. Set Enable software metering on clients to Yes.

  3. Click OK to apply changes and close the Default Settings dialog.



Policy Application

Client devices will receive these updated settings the next time they download the client policy.
