Introduction
The Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) connector is used to pull in data from the SCCM database. The SCCM connector consist of the following panels:
- SCCM Discovery Status
- Mapping Rules
- Import Applications
- Import Users
- Import Devices
- Database Settings
- Troubleshooting
An Administrator has the ability to toggle between OFF/ON within the following panels described below.
SCCM Discovery Status
The table below provides information on the elements within this panel.
UI Element | Description |
Run SCCM Discovery Now | A button to allow an Admin to run the SCCM Discovery sync now. |
Schedule SCCM Discovery #1 | Specify the times to run the SCCM Discovery. |
Schedule SCCM Discovery #2 | Specify the times to run the SCCM Discovery. |
Last Discovery Date | Displays the last time the SCCM Discovery ran successfully. |
Sync SCCM From Date | Define the date to import new User-App links from. If left blank, it will import the last 3 months. |
Email Logs To | List of email addresses to email a copy of the import log at the end of the sync. Use ; for multiple list for example [email protected];[email protected]. |
Overall Progress | Displays the overall progress of the SCCM import. |
Current Task Progress | Displays the current task progress. |
Import Log | Text box used to display the SCCM import logs. |

Import Applications

UI Element | Description |
Alt SCCM Name Exes | The SCCM connector typically utilises the Product Name file attribute of an application's EXE file to identify the corresponding entry in ManagementStudio. However, if WINWORD.EXE (the executable for Microsoft Word) is specified in the Alt SCCM Name Exes setting in the connector, the application entry will be named Microsoft Word instead of Microsoft Office. |
Exe White List | Specify a list of Exe names to import even if they are filtered out by the default filters (ExplorerFileName0). Ensure the application has not been detected by SCCM otherwise duplicate applications will be created. |
Exe Exclusion List | Specify a list of Exe Names to exclude from the import (ExploererFileName0) (Wildcard: %). Example %install%.exe, %setup%.exe, |
Folder Exclusion List | Provide folders to exclude from the import (For example _:\Users\%, _:\Documents And Settings\%, |
Add to Blueprint | All new Applications discovered will be added to the Blueprint path specified. For example Discovery\SCCM\App |
Import Users

UI Element | Description |
Domain Filter | Only import Users from the specified domains. A comma delimited list of Domains. For example Global, HOP, UK, FR. |
User Name is NOT | Provide a list of User accounts to be excluded from the import. For example srv_%, Print%. Wildcard: % |
Add to Blueprint | All new Users discovered will be added to the Blueprint path specified. For example Discovery\SCCM\Users |
Import Devices
The table below provides information on the elements within this panel.
UI Elements | Descriptions |
Device Field Mappings | In this section, an admin has the ability to define and map the list of SCCM fields to be written back to the Device record in ManagementStudio. |
Hostname is NOT | Prevent Devices with specific hostnames from being created. A comma delimited list with % as a wild character. For example GFR0001, PRT12537%, %KIOSK% |
MAC Software Filter | Specify the MAC Software to be filtered out from the import. |
MAC Service Filter | Specify the MAC services to be filtered out from the import. |
OS Version IS | Specify the operating systems version of the devices which should be imported. A comma delimited list with % as a wild character. For example %6.1%, %6.1.7% |
OS Version IS NOT | Specify the operating systems version of the devices which should not be imported. A comma delimited list with % as a wild character. For example %8.1%, %6.1.7% |
OS Name IS | Specify the operating system name of the devices which should be imported. A Comma delimited list with % as a wild character. For example %Windows 7%, %Windows 8% |
OS Name IS NOT | Specify the operating system name of the devices which should not be imported. A Comma delimited list with % as a wild character. For example %Windows 7%, %Windows 8% |
Domain Filter | Specify the Domain(s) to only import Devices from. Leave blank for no filters. |
Domain Override | Specify the Domain Override value followed by exemptions in a comma delimited list. |
Add to Blueprint | All new Devices discovered will be added to the Blueprint path specified. For example Discovery\SCCM\Users |
Database Settings
The table below provides information on the elements within this panel.
UI Element | Description |
DB Server | Details of the SCCM database host. |
DB Name | The SCCM database name. |
DB User Name | Database Username |
DB Password | Database Password |
Integrated Security | Tick to use the service account to connect to SCCM, otherwise specify an account. |
Explicit Sql Collation | If Database has non standard config. For example SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. |
Paging | Turn Off where the SCCM is hosted on a version of SQL server earlier than 2012. |
Troubleshooting

UI Element | Description |
Notes | Text field used to enter more information about the project environment. |
Installed Version | Displays the current version installed. |
Installed Date | Displays the date the current version was installed. |
Verbose Logging | This options generates large files and should only be enabled for troubleshooting. |
Save Sql Query to file | Enable this option to have the ability save the Sql query to a file. |
Save Sql Results to file | Enable this option to have the ability to save the Sql results to a file. |
Adding a SCCM Connector
Overview
This walkthrough shows an Admin how to add a SCCM connector.
Creating a SCCM Connector
- Switch to Administration (1) from the left vertical menu.
- Click on Extensions (2) from the automation panel.
- Click Connectors (3).
- Click Add New Connector (1).
- Select + SCCM - [Server](2).
- Enter the name of the SCCM Server (1).
- Click OK (2) to create the SCCM Connector.
- The new SCCM connector should now be visible within the left tabbed menu.
- Ensure the toggle next to SCCM Discovery Status is turned ON.
- Scroll down to the Database Settings panel and populate the details accordingly:
- DB Server
- DB Name
- DB Username - Required if using a dedicated account to connect to SCCM
- DB Password - Required if using a dedicated account to connect to SCCM
- Integrated Security - Enable to use the service account to connect to SCCM
- Click Save Changes.
- Click Run SCCM Discovery Now.
- Click Continue when asked to confirm to run the SCCM Discovery.
- When it finishes establishing the connection to SCCM, there will be a prompt displayed notifying that it has finished.
- The Import Log text field will display the logs of the import.
- The Last Discovery Date will display its last successful run.
- This completes configuring and establishing a connection to a SCCM connector.
- An Administrator can now switch back and configure the import based on their requirements in relation to Users, Devices and Applications using the various panels available.
