Introduction

The portal datamining report is a type of web report that focuses on analysing and presenting data collected in ManagementStudio. The report uses data mining techniques to extract patterns, insights and valuable information from large datasets generated by user interactions on the portal. System vs User Datamining Report

System Datamining Report

A system datamining report are reports that are owned by the system.

User Datamining Report

A User datamining report are reports that are created and owned by individual users in ManagementStudio. A user DMR can be set to be visible to all, however only the owner is able to make changes to the report.  

Accessing the Portal Datamining Reports

To view the Portal Datamining Report:

  • Switch to Administration -> Portal Settings (1)
  • Expand either the System Datamining Reports or the User Datamining Reports to view the required portal datamining reports (2)



The Portal Datamining Reports Layout


UI ElementDescription
Save ChangesCommits the changes to the database.
Cancel ChangesTo discard the changes and reload values from the previous save.
Edit ReportTo edit the report.
Change OwnerTo change the Owner of the report to another user in the system.
DeleteTo delete the report.
Datamining Report/Name

The Name of the DMR will be shown in the UI and also as the tab name in the browser.


Make report visible to all users

The DMR will show in the UI for use by other Users, not just the User that created the DMR.


IDInternal ID of the DMR.
Portal WrapperThe portal wrapper selected to be displayed with the report.
Internal NameInternal Name of the report.
Category

Groups related DMRs into folders in the Admin view, (does not show in the main UI).


Description

This description will show above the report table in the browser view.


Keywords for Email & Portal Pages
Web Url by IdThe web url by Id. This can be copied and pasted in a web browser. 
Web Url by NameThe web url by name. This can be copied and pasted in a web browser.
Keyword by IdKeyword by ID. This is used to resolve the report in an Email. 
Keyword by NameKeyword by Name. This is used to resolve the report in an Email.
Portal Web View Options
Show Report Header on Web ViewEnable this to display the report header in a web browser.
Show Report Description on Web ViewEnable this to display the report description in a web browser.
Show Download Button (Excel/CSV)Enable this to display the button to allow the user to download the report.
Show Report Table in Compact mode (Uses 10% less vertical space)Enable this to display the report table in a compact mode in a web browser.
Number of Rows to show before pagingUsed to configure the number of rows to show before paging.
Enable PowerBI Endpoint
Publish authenticated Json Endpoint for Power BIThis displays a Url used by authenticated users to view the DMR.
Publish public Json Endpoint for Power BIThis displays a Url used by an anonymous user to view the DMR
Misc Info
Owned ByThe name of the user that owns the DMR.
Last Modified ByThe name of the user that last modified the DMR.
Last Modified OnThe Date/Time the DMR was last modified.
Legacy Portal Links
Publish authenticated Web Url to view reportPublishes a Url used by authenticated users to view the report in a web browser. Depreciated in v13 and replaced by portal authenticated wrappers in v14. 
Publish public Web Url to view reportPublishes a Url used by anonymous users to view the report in a web browser. Depreciated in v13 and replaced by portal authenticated wrappers in v14. 
Require secure filter to view Web Url (Auth and Public)Publishes a Url to allow users to ONLY view items linked to them. Depreciated in v13 and replaced by portal authenticated wrappers in v14.





How to Create a Portal Datamining Report

  • Switch to Administration -> Portal Settings (1)
  • Click on New Datamining Report (2)


  • Select the Target Module (1)
  • Click Select (2)



  • A new Datamining window will be presented
  • Select the fields required in the report from the Module reporting tier
  • Click Run Datamining Report
  • When you have all the required data in the report, click Menu (top left corner) and select Save

  • Enter a meaningful name for the report (1)
  • Enter a brief description of the report (2)
  • Enable this checkbox if the report needs to be visible to all users (3)
  • Configure the required web portal settings for the report (4)
  • Configure the PowerBI Endpoint settings for the report if required (5)
  • Click Update Existing (6) to commit the changes 
  • Close the datamining report window



  • Switch to Administration -> Portal Settings (1)
  • Click Reload All (2)
  • Select the newly created portal datamining report (3)
  • Finalise the web portal settings for the report
  • Click Save Changes



  • Copy the Url from either the Web Url by Id or Web Url by Name fields and paste this into a web browser to display the datamining report
