How to enable the Portal for end-users to raise Defects

Introduction


It's sometimes useful for end users to be able to raise defects in ManagementStudio. This article shows how to configure this so that any user in the organisation can raise a defect.


Create a Defect Survey

  • Administration -> Defects -> Surveys -> New Survey -> "New Defect" -> OK
  • Settings as below:

  • Display Fields as required. Example below:

  • It's recommended that some fields such as Primary Contact and Short Description are marked as Required
  • Save Changes -> Save

Enable the Portal

  • Administration -> Defects -> Portal
    • Is Enabled -> Tick
    • Anon Access 1 -> Anon Access Level -> Create Item Only
    • New Survey Item -> New Defect
  • Save Changes -> Save

Test the Portal

  • Copy the New Item URL from Administration -> Defects -> Portal
  • Paste this into a web browser
  • Create the test defect
